New Life Member of TWA

The Board and staff of TWA would like to congratulate Sam Prince on being inducted as a Life Member of Triathlon Western Australia. See below for a long list of Sam’s achievements with Triathlon over the past 30 years. Congratulations Sam!

TWA LIFE MEMBERSHIP

SAM PRINCE – Inducted Saturday 7th August 2010

Service to Triathlon WA well above what is normally expected: Sam has on many occasions provided support to clubs within the South West & Goldfields region – Sam assisted Busselton Tri Club & Kalgoorlie Tri Club in regeneration when these clubs were at a point of folding. Sam regularly attends club meetings to provide support services as required. Sam gives much of his time to assist the sport whether at club level, officiating level or at a board level.

Significant leadership within Triathlon WA: Sam has been an active Board member for TWA for the past couple of years and in addition has been a Level 2 Technical Official. Sam has also been a club committee member of Busselton Tri Club. Sam was an inaugural founding member for the sport and assisted in a voluntary capacity in triathlon as far back as 1988.

Outstanding innovation in Triathlon WA activities: Sam received the TWA president’s award in 1993-1994, a clear indication that at this time, Sam was respected and appreciated by all in the triathlon community.

Strong support for Triathlon WA activities: Sam regularly attends triathlon events within the South West Region and is always offering to assist clubs to grow the sport and help them improve their events – Sam has assisted as a technical official and assisted as logistics and operations person on the with the South West Regional Kids Triathlon, Boddington Triathlon, Busselton Half Ironman and Ironman events, Karri Valley Triathlon, Bunbury Women’s Only triathlon etc.

Enhancement of the standing of Triathlon WA in the community: Sam assisted with the Ironman events when Ironman Australia was in Forster and even when participating as a competitor in these events, he gave his time to assist with setting up the event venue. Sam has done many radio and televisions interviews in the South West region to promote and advocate for Triathlon. Sam was an integral member of the IMWA organising body in setting up IMWA in Western Australia.

Long association with the activities of Triathlon WA: In the past Sam was an active participant at triathlon events with his first event being in Werribee in 1980. Also, he is involved in all the clubs and events as highlighted above.

Nominee should have a minimum of ten (10) years membership of Triathlon WA, unless exceptional circumstances can be cited: Sam has been participating in the sport since 1980 and over time have been a competitor, technical official, Board member, race director, operations and logistics manager.
