TWA announces new Sanctioning Officer Position

Triathlon WA is pleased to announced that Cathy Hoare has joined the TWA  office team as Sanctioning Officer. Cathy is a Level 1 Technical Official and a  current member of the TWATC – she has  a good understanding of sanctioning and the technical requirements at events. We look forward to having Cathy as part of our team and providing our members and stakeholders with improved Sanctioning and Technical Service. Cathy will be working on Thursdays from 9:30am – 2:30pm. All future sanctioning documents and Technical enquiries can be directed to Cathy: sanctioning@triathlonwa.asn.au  Welcome aboard Cathy!

Triathlon Western Australia announces Ironman 70.3 Busselton for 2011 to 2013

Triathlon WA is delighted to announce World Triathlon Corporation has confirmed one of the oldest triathlon races within Western Australia will be given Ironman 70.3 status from 2011. Mandurah Triathlon Club leads the way

Congratulations to Mandurah Triathlon Club who recently won the 2010 Leadership in a Project or Event  - Volunteer Based Organisation Award.

Presented at the Southern Regions Community Leadership Forum, the award recognises the achievements of grass roots individuals and groups who have lead by example and positively impacted on the community through leadership.

Triathlon WA would like to congratulate all who were involved.

This week represents an exciting development for the Australian governing body of Triathlon, with the announcement of the newly appointed CEO. North Coast Triathlon Club – Women In Triathlon Course

WA Junior Athletes Awarded 2010/2011 Smarter than Smoking Country Sport Scholarships

The Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR), in partnership with Healthway, has provided a scholarship scheme for talented regional athletes called the Smarter than Smoking (STS) Country Sport Scholarship Program since 1995.

Congratulations to the following Junior triathletes awarded the 2010/2011 STS Country Sport Scholarships:
Ashlee Bailie – Bunbury
Toni Lander – Bunbury
Lauren Lander – Bunbury
Anthea Stacey - Kalgoorlie

Regional athletes are selected on a state-wide basis against a set of performance categories that are designed to provide a pathway from a STS scholarship into a regional academy like the South West Academy of Sport and into the elite environment at WAIS.
