Further to the review by the Triathlon WA Technical Protest Panel the following will apply for the disqualification status of all participants in the City of Perth Triathlon on Sunday 30th January 2011:
Based on the fact that participants were not clearly informed of disqualification status if they overtook in the “Green Zone” and given that there was no clear delineation to the finish of the “Green zone” and thus no clear interpretation of where participants could begin passing again, all athletes penalised for passing within the green zone and who presented themselves to the penalty box will be reinstated.
Any participants who were given an infringement and who did not present themselves to the penalty box will not be reinstated in the race.
No amendments will be made for any participants who received drafting penalties during the event.
The Triathlon WA Technical Protest Panel decision is final and further review will not be entered into.
The official race results have been updated and are now available on the event website http://triserieswa.com.au
A full review of the “Green Zone” within this course will be completed prior to next year’s event.
For future reference as a participant in a sanctioned Triathlon race, it is your responsibility to know the rules of the sport and to attend the full race briefing.
We wish you all the best as a competitor for future events this season.
Due to a number of disqualification protests at the City of Perth event, results are currently not available.
The Race Referee and Technical Director will be meeting on Wednesday evening to consider any and all enquiries from athletes who were disqualified in the City of Perth Triathlon.
No outcomes are guaranteed but the matter will be discussed and each case assessed on its merits.
Full results will be posted once a decision on each case has been made.
Due to the above, TWA State Olympic Distance Championship results and TOTY results (up to and including the City of Perth event) are not yet available.
