Bibra Lake Fun Run – Free Community Event Sunday 18th September

One of our up and coming Junior Triathletes, Kurt Wesley, from the North Coast Triathlon Club, is involved in organising school and club entries for the Bibra Lake Fun Run, which is a free community event, being held on Sunday 18th September.

Please click here for information regarding the event or visit the website to register.

Kurt will be raising funds for the Cancer Council of Western Australia at the event.  Reasons for his fundraising drive are explained below:

I am a Year 9 student and for my Personal Project I wanted to hold a Fun Run to raise money for the Cancer Council as I never met my Grandmother because she died from cancer. The City of Cockburn have allowed me to assist in their event which is a free Community Event, so I have decided to hold the sausage sizzle as well to raise the funds and help organise their event.”

Look out for Kurt at the Sausage Sizzle stand, where he will have a donation box for any contributions you can spare.  Donations can also be made online by visiting www.tinyurl.com/cancerwa

Shire of Cue Outback Triathlon 10th September 2011

A true outback experience to challenge all athletes against Australia’s harsh elements. The Cue Outback Triathlon is a rough and rugged course comprising an 800m swim, a 28km bike ride and a 5.5km run. That probably sounds simple enough for you competitive athletes out there, but there’s a little more to it than that. The swim takes place in an open cut gold mine where the water is 52 metres deep in the centre and dark as night. Then you jump on your offroad bicycle and make your way into town along a red dirt track. Ditch your bike at the community oval and take on the last mission, a vertical challenge of endurance up the Cue Water Tank Hill and down through the scrub.

Cue is located 650km North East of Perth

Prizes for the Cue Outback Triathlon

Winners and places for the Cue Outback Triathlon will be based on an overall score of the individual or team for all four categories of the triathlon. Each division will be awarded a first, second and third, with an overall fastest competitor/team being recorded on the yearly trophy.

1st Prize – Trophy of achievement, $1250 cash and $700.00 in flight vouchers
2nd Prize – A Margaret River escape package to the total of $1000.00
3rd Prize – $500.00 in Red Balloon vouchers for any experience
