TRYStars WA progam

For the 2011 /12 season anyone under the age of 19 (as at 31st December 2011) is classified as a ‘Junior.’

Those in the 7-12yrs age range are classified as ‘non-competitive.’  Those aged 13-15yrs are eligible to compete in the Junior State Series races throughout the season.

The TRYstars program is still offered for all Juniors in 7-15yrs age range by some clubs.  Please check with your local club to see if this program is offered.    All TRYstars participants will have access to club run training sessions to develop their skills in the sport of Triathlon. 

Each individually registered TRYstar member will be provided with TRYstars starters pack upon joining a club.

What is TRYSTARS

  • An introduction into the sport of triathlon
  • Has a focus on fun & enjoyment
  • Encourages kids to be with friends or make new friends
  • Allows kids to develop skills, ability, fitness in a non competitive enviroment
  • Is a national program-state based to encourage participation in the sport
  • Forms the first step of the national triathlon pathway

Benefits of a Trystars Local Club program
1. Trystars Pack (TBA – new items to add to last year’s products will be included)
2. Membership Card
3. Participation Certificate
4. Clubs have specific Trystar Coaches & Volunteers
5. Insurance coverage whilst training
6. An Interclub Trystars event each year
7. Opportunities for kids triathlons at Weetbix, IronmanWA, Busso 70.3 ( registration fees payable for these extra events as run as a commercial activity)
8. Various club events during the season with a Trysrtars catergory

Types of Races & Distances
Triathlons are swim-bike- run
Splash and dash – swim – run
Duathlons are ride -run

All of these types of events are graded by age and distances are set to the age group.
These distances have been set by Triathlon Australia based on medical input.
