Australian Olympic triathlete Brad Kahlefeldt will be discharged from a San Diego Hospital tomorrow after extensive tests have cleared him of tuberculosis.

TWA congratulates Busso 70.3 winners Hodge and Sheedy-Ryan

With not so favourable swim conditions first thing on Saturday morning, a new Ironman 70.3 star was born with 20 year old James Hodge leading the Busselton Ironman 70.3 race from start-to-finish, and crossing the finish line in 3:55:08. The 20-year-old Tasmanian crossed the line one minute ahead of second placed Matty White (3:56.33) while Callum Millward came third (3:58.07).

Our own West Australia, Felicity Sheedy-Ryan (4:21:27) produced a powerful come-from-behind run to beat fellow WA triathlete Kate Bevilaqua (4:22:19) to win the women’s race. Flick had a fair bit to make up after a slow bike time, which was around six minutes slower than her rivals Bevilaqua and Lisa Marangon, who finished third (4:24:46). Felicity in true running form pulled it off and passed Kate to take the line honours.

Even though the weather conditions were not ideal first thing in the morning, with a fairly rough swim and a fare wind on the bike and run, the race was again a fantastic success with the 1597 individuals and 457 teams taking on the conditions with ease. The sun eventually showed its face, the wind dropped and the day turned out to be another stunning event for all who participated and spectated. Whopping crowds lined the course on club alley and throughout Barnard Park with our last team competitors crossing the line at 4:58:09.

There were 24 qualifying slots handed out on Sunday morning for participants to compete in the 2011 Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Las Vegas on 9th September 2012.

Kenji Nener named in Australian Junior World Championship Squad for 2012

Triathlon Australia are pleased to announce the Australian Junior SQUAD for the 2012 ITU World Triathlon Championships to be conducted in Auckland, New Zealand in October and WA is extremley proud of TEP athlete Kenji Nener who was names as a member of the squad. The SQUAD has been selected based on athletes performances in the Australian Junior Triathlon Series including races on the Gold Coast, Canberra and the Australian & OTU Oceania Junior Championships in Devonport, as well as athletes performances against the National Performance Standards.
